Last checked: October 2, 2026.
This Wisconsin State Fair guide distinguishes announced 2027 information from attractions and transport details documented for 2026. The completed fair ran August 6–16, 2026; the next edition is announced for August 5–15, 2027. Checked October 2, 2026, the official FAQ already states 2027 gate prices and hours, while several activity and discount pages still describe the previous edition.

Dates, hours and the right location
The official FAQ gives 2027 hours of 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday–Wednesday and 10 a.m.–midnight Thursday–Saturday. Its question headings still mention 2026, but the answers explicitly identify 2027. Individual buildings and attractions can operate on shorter schedules, so check the current daily program for anything you particularly want to see.
The fair takes place in West Allis, in the Milwaukee area. Use Wisconsin State Fair Park as the destination when comparing routes and accommodations. A regional hotel listing or general Milwaukee address does not tell you how convenient the journey to your entrance will be.
Choose the visit’s main purpose before selecting a day. A concert, a livestock show and a family ride outing can lead to different arrival times. Protect your main interest first, then add flexible stops nearby.
Admission and concert tickets
The published 2027 entrance rates are $20 for adults 12+, $15 for seniors 60+ and military/veterans with ID, $13 for ages 6–11, and free for ages five and under. Confirm eligibility and the final purchase total before buying.
The FAQ distinguishes the Bank Five Nine Amphitheater, which needs no separate show ticket, from the Main Stage. A Main Stage ticket purchased before entering includes fair admission on the show date; buying a concert ticket after entering does not reimburse the gate ticket. Read the specific event’s terms.
Check the official ticket offer before purchasing separate products. Our Wisconsin State Fair budget guide explains how admission, transport, rides and extras combine, including why a previous-year discount cannot be assumed available again.
Agricultural attractions and hands-on learning
The Discovery Barnyard’s 2026 page describes free agricultural learning activities and baby animals in Ag Village, on Sue Wetley Court south of the Lower Cattle Barn. Listed learning stations included a veterinary-themed game, agricultural careers and a fishing activity. Its posted hours were 10 a.m.–9 p.m., ending at 8 p.m. on the final Sunday; check next-edition arrangements.
Make agriculture a real part of the visit rather than a brief detour between purchases. Choose an exhibit that interests your party, allow time to read or ask questions, and check the demonstration schedule before moving on. Children may get more from one activity they can follow than from several hurried stops.
Barn access can change around competitions and animal changeovers. Consult the daily program for the day you attend, and avoid treating a general exhibit description as a guarantee that a particular animal or demonstration will be available at any time.
Included attractions give the day variety
The organizer’s included-attractions directory lists Dairy Lane, the horse-focused Neigh-borhood Corral, Exploratory Park, youth art and other exhibits. It also describes Cirque at the Fair as a free show with an optional paid VIP seating upgrade. These checked listings are useful examples; confirm the program for your edition.
A balanced first visit might pair an agricultural exhibit with an art display and one live performance. These activities have different rhythms, giving the group a chance to change pace. Choose the order using the map and showtimes rather than walking repeatedly across the grounds.
Included entertainment still requires time and sometimes a place in a queue. If a performance matters to you, plan to arrive before it starts. A paid upgrade may offer a different seating arrangement, but it is a separate choice rather than proof that the standard experience is unavailable.
SpinCity: check suitability before buying
The 2026 SpinCity page described an amusement area with separate adult and children’s sections. Ride and game transactions used tickets, and some children’s rides required a paying chaperone as well as the child. Wristbands excluded games and had a 7 p.m. cutoff under the published terms.
Before purchasing, look at the actual rides your group can use. Height restrictions, comfort with motion and the amount of time available all affect whether a package is worthwhile. A long list of rides is not the same as a long list suitable for your child.
Keep the ride budget separate from general admission and give it a clear limit. If rides are optional for your group, build the day around exhibits and entertainment first, then decide whether to add a short ride session.
Arrival, parking and the way home
The checked onsite-parking page listed first-come parking, card payment and a new parking charge if a vehicle leaves and returns. It also warned of I-94 East-West construction. Consult its current route information before driving; a familiar approach may no longer be the easiest one.
Decide how you will return before entering. Save the parking area or designated rideshare location and agree on a meeting point if the group splits. A late concert finish can change the suitability of a shuttle or transit option even when it worked well on arrival.
For an accessibility-dependent visit, review the fair’s dedicated accessibility information and ask about arrangements your party needs. A prepaid parking purchase should not be treated as a reservation of a specific accessible space.
A practical plan for the first visit
Choose two priorities and one optional stop. Put a scheduled show into the plan first, group nearby browsing around it and leave a proper meal or rest break. This produces a route you can adjust without losing the whole day when one activity takes longer than expected.
Read the current bag and carry-in policies before packing. Keep tickets and essential details available offline, and carry enough phone power for the trip home. Do not rely on a screenshot of an expired offer or an old social post as proof of current admission terms.
Finally, check the date attached to each detail. The organizer has announced the next fair, but that does not update every retained page automatically. Treat old promotions, attraction times and transport prices as historical until the relevant new information is published.
