Last checked: October 3, 2026.
This Baltimore Artscape guide helps you plan around the festival’s downtown setting and varied arts programming. The completed edition ran May 23–24, 2026. The organizer’s applications page now announces May 29–30, 2027, while several visitor pages still describe 2026. The dates are useful for advance planning; the older hours, artists and activity details should not be treated as a finished 2027 schedule.

Artscape dates: what has changed
The official applications page explicitly identifies the next dates. This is stronger evidence for the 2027 calendar than a footer attached to an old program. The retained homepage advertises the 2026 event at 100 Holliday Street, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Those operating hours belong to the completed edition.
Save your intended travel dates now if useful, but keep individual activity times provisional. A festival date does not establish the hours of every exhibition, market or performance. Before making a nonchangeable booking, check the latest visitor announcement and decide how much uncertainty your trip can accommodate.
Start with the art you want to experience
The official programming overview describes an artisan market, the Sondheim Art Prize exhibition, conversation programming, film-related Beyond the Reel, Kidscape and Artscape After Dark. These categories explain the event’s breadth; they are not a confirmed timetable of 2027 sessions.
Choose two priorities before opening a map. For an art-focused visit, that might be a marketplace and an exhibition. For a performance-focused day, it might be one set and an installation nearby. You can add discoveries between those anchors without trying to see every type of programming.
When browsing the market, ask artists about materials, process and care. If you might buy, check size, transport and collection arrangements before paying. Photograph a work only with permission, and keep the artist’s contact details with the receipt so later questions reach the right person.
Downtown locations and SCOUT
The 2026 SCOUT information identifies the War Memorial Building at 101 North Gay Street / 100 Holliday Street. Its published exhibition hours differed from the main festival: Friday May 22, 1–6 p.m.; Saturday May 23, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday May 24, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. This is a useful example of why a sub-event needs its own schedule.
For a future visit, confirm both the building entrance and the session time. A general map pin can take you near the activity without showing the accessible entrance or the correct queue. The orientation map below uses the downtown War Memorial area; follow the new organizer footprint when it is released.
Do not assume an indoor exhibition stays open as late as an outdoor music stage. If an exhibition matters most, visit it first while its operating window is clear. Leave flexible browsing or an optional performance for later.
Plan transport around the current street closures
The retained organizer FAQ lists an official parking garage at 200 East Lombard Street and points visitors toward advance parking reservations. It also discusses 2026 street closures and possible transit arrangements. Recheck both the garage offer and current closure map for 2027; this guide does not promise free transit.
If driving, choose the garage entrance you can reach legally during the event, not simply the closest pin. Compare the full parking price, entry hours, exit hours and walking route. A reservation is less useful when the planned approach crosses a closed street.
If using public transport, look up the return journey before leaving home and review service alerts on the day. A regular bus stop near the site may be relocated during a street festival. For groups, share one meeting location outside the busiest pedestrian flow.
A manageable half-day visit
Start with your priority exhibition or market area, then take a meal break before a scheduled performance. Finish with one optional discovery if you still have energy. This is a suggested order, not an official program, and it should be rearranged around the actual opening times.
Allow enough time to stop and look closely. An arts festival becomes less rewarding when every work is a checkpoint between appointments. Choose one installation or artist conversation where you can spend longer, then let the rest of the route remain loose.
For families, pair one adult interest with one child-led activity. Our Artscape with kids guide explains the retained Kidscape age guidance and how to plan a shorter outing without assuming every festival area suits every age.
Budget and comfort
Free general access leaves room to choose your own spending, but food, transport, parking and artwork still belong in the budget. Set separate amounts for necessities and optional purchases. If someone wants to collect art, agree on a ceiling before browsing rather than deciding under time pressure.
Wear footwear suitable for an urban walking route and check the forecast before leaving. Carry permitted essentials in a bag you can manage through crowded spaces. If you need a rest, build it into the plan rather than waiting until the whole group is tired.
For step-free routes, accessible facilities or an accommodation, ask the organizer about the current footprint. Public streets and individual buildings can present different access conditions. Confirm the particular route or activity that matters to your visit.
Check the final plan before you go
Recheck the edition printed on every downloaded map and schedule. Old search results can remain visible after the next dates have been announced. Keep the newest organizer page bookmarked and review it again close to the visit.
Confirm your priority activity, entrance, transport plan and return time. Choose a nearby alternative if a session changes, and follow on-site staff directions when weather or crowd conditions alter the route. A flexible plan helps you enjoy the art without depending on every item working exactly as expected.
