Edition: Initial publication; later substantive updates will be dated.
Our celebrity news 2026 hub follows public work and verified announcements: what has been released, who has earned an award, and which developments have a clear source. This edition leads with the October 2 release of Verity, Netflix’s coming week and September’s music and television awards. Older milestones are labeled as background rather than presented as breaking news.
Use the date attached to each item. A scheduled premiere is not the same as a released title, and an engagement announcement is not a wedding confirmation. This is a selected briefing for a US entertainment audience, not an exhaustive live wire or a measured ranking of social-media trends.

Verity opens with Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett
Celebrity: Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett
Date: October 2, 2026 — theatrical release
What happened: Amazon MGM Studios says Verity is now in theaters. Johnson plays writer Lowen Ashleigh, while Hathaway plays Verity Crawford and Hartnett plays Jeremy Crawford.
Why it matters: The adaptation brings a widely discussed book property to cinemas. For viewers choosing between a cinema trip and a streaming subscription, the practical distinction is theatrical availability; a Prime Video release is not established by the studio’s theatrical announcement.

Josh Hartnett’s Below is scheduled for October 8
Celebrity: Josh Hartnett
Date: October 8, 2026 — upcoming Netflix premiere
What happened: Netflix lists Below for October 8. The series places Hartnett in a coastal community threatened by a mysterious sea creature.
Why it matters: This is a forward-looking viewing date, not a review of the full series. Keep it separate from Hartnett’s film release this week, so two different projects do not become one misleading headline.

Taylor Swift and Madonna feature in the official VMA results
Celebrity: Taylor Swift and Madonna
Date: September 27, 2026 — awards
What happened: MTV names Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” Video of the Year and Madonna Artist of the Year. Its results also list Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Bring Your Love” for Best Collaboration.
Why it matters: The awards provide a dated reason to revisit the artists’ work. An award category is a specific result, not proof that its winner is the most popular person across every audience or platform.

Matthew Rhys earns Emmy recognition across two performances
Celebrity: Matthew Rhys
Date: September 14, 2026 — Emmy ceremony
What happened: The Television Academy records Rhys’s lead-actor wins for the comedy Widow’s Bay and limited series The Beast in Me.
Why it matters: The two roles give viewers a useful way to compare an actor’s work across genres. This is September awards context that remains relevant to discovery, not an award announced today.

Mojo Brookzz’s Netflix special has an October date
Celebrity: Mojo Brookzz
Date: October 6, 2026 — upcoming release
What happened: Netflix’s October 2 weekly guide schedules Mojo Brookzz: I Know You Lying for October 6 and identifies it as his debut Netflix special.
Why it matters: A named platform debut is a concrete career milestone. It does not imply that the comedian is new to performing or that audience numbers are already available for an unreleased special.
Mikey Madison’s next screen chapter: The Social Reckoning
Celebrity: Mikey Madison
Date: Current project checked October 2, 2026
What happened: Sony’s official film page confirms Madison alongside Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong in Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning. Vogue’s October cover interview discusses the project with Madison.
Why it matters: Confirmed cast and project information offers firmer context than casting rumors. The film’s dramatized characters and story should not be confused with the private lives of its performers.

Hollywood and movie-star news
Start with the release status before comparing headlines. Verity has a confirmed theatrical release, while the Below item is a scheduled television premiere. A trailer or studio synopsis tells you what a project is, but it is not independent evidence of its quality.

Music celebrities and rising talent
Sienna Spiro is MTV’s 2026 Best New Artist winner. Earlier in the year, Olivia Dean won the Recording Academy’s Best New Artist award. These are different organizations, ceremonies and awards; neither result should be swapped into the other’s headline.

Celebrity couples: public announcements
Finneas and Claudia Sulewski’s August 29 wedding is covered in a Vogue feature involving the couple and corroborated by RTÉ. The celebrity couples tracker separates marriages, engagement announcements, separation statements and anniversary context. It does not treat photographs or online reactions as confirmation.

Celebrity fashion and public appearances
Vogue’s reporting identifies Celia Kritharioti as the designer of Heidi Klum’s embroidered black lace look at Vogue World Milano on September 22. Our celebrity-style guide puts that appearance alongside awards-season tailoring and color choices, with links to the original photo coverage.
Awards background and earlier 2026 milestones
The Academy’s March 15 ceremony awarded the leading-actor Oscar to Michael B. Jordan for Sinners and the leading-actress Oscar to Jessie Buckley for Hamnet. Those are earlier-year milestones, not October announcements.

The date of an awards ceremony can differ from the release year of the work it honors. That is why this hub uses explicit event dates instead of calling every film associated with a 2026 trophy a 2026 release.
Edition history and corrections
October 2, 2026: Initial edition published with verified release, award, relationship and style references. There are no prior updates to this newly created hub. Subsequent substantive changes will be recorded here; source checks without new information will not be presented as fresh reporting.
When information changes, the relevant item should be rewritten and dated. Material factual errors require a visible correction explaining what changed. Stories that no longer belong at the top should move to dated context rather than receive a cosmetic timestamp.
