The best sunscreens are the ones whose labels match how you intend to use them—and that you can apply generously and reapply consistently. This early 2027 guide compares 15 US face and body options, including mineral, chemical, and hybrid formulas. DayZora checked manufacturer information, available Drug Facts, and selected retailer prices on September 27, 2026. We compared SPF, broad-spectrum labeling, water-resistance intervals, active filters, fragrance, pack size, and cost; we did not independently test protection, white cast, or wear. A small makeup-friendly facial tube serves a different shopping need from a larger body bottle. The table makes those differences visible. No sunscreen offers complete protection, so this guide also links to authoritative advice on clothing, shade, application, and reapplication.

“Best for” identifies a shopping use case within this selection, not a universal performance ranking. Prices refer to the linked brand page unless a retailer price source is provided. Scroll the table horizontally on a small screen.

One face-and-body formula can simplify packing and reapplication.

The price here is for 90 mL, not the larger 150 mL pack. Contains alcohol denat.

Why It Stands Out
The five-fluid-ounce bottle is practical for covering more than the face.
What We Like
A mineral option with 80-minute water resistance at a moderate unit price.
Considerations
Rub in thoroughly; mineral formulas can leave visible residue. The UV-changing cap is a reminder, not a timer or protection meter.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing mineral body-lotion value.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.

Why It Stands Out
Its verified low purchase price makes routine replenishment more manageable.
What We Like
Face-and-body use and an 80-minute water-resistance label.
Considerations
Kids branding does not replace age instructions. Ask a doctor about sunscreen for infants under six months.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing fragrance-free family value.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.

Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
A larger facial-size tube also covers body use.
What We Like
The formula includes avocado and jojoba oils.
Considerations
The moisturizing positioning may not suit someone seeking a very matte finish. Appearance on skin has not been independently tested here.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing moisturizing face-and-body spf.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.

Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Matte SPF 45 — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
It offers a gel format rather than another conventional lotion.
What We Like
The brand specifically positions this version for a matte finish.
Considerations
The smaller pack costs more per fluid ounce than the original SPF 30. Matte is a manufacturer description, not our wear-test result.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing matte-finish gel preference.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.
6. Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Hybrid SPF 50
Best for: Hybrid filters and a dewy finish
Product type: Hybrid sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Homosalate 10%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 5%, zinc oxide 5%

Fragrance: Contains lavender oil
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; hybrid filters. Water resistance: Not specified.
Approx. price: $18.99 USD ($2.13 / 10 mL).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Hybrid SPF 50 — manufacturer information.
Why It Stands Out
This combines zinc oxide with three chemical filters in one formula.
What We Like
A distinct option for shoppers who want a brand-described dewy finish.
Considerations
Lavender oil makes this a poor match for a strict fragrance-avoidance preference. A product-specific water-resistance interval was not confirmed; check the pack.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing hybrid filters and a dewy finish.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every two hours. Choose a labeled water-resistant sunscreen for swimming or sweating.
7. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Zinc Oxide SPF 50
Best for: Untinted mineral facial fluid
Product type: Mineral sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Titanium dioxide 6%, zinc oxide 5%
Size: 1.7 US fl oz
Fragrance: Fragrance-free
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; mineral filters. Water resistance: 40 minutes.
Approx. price: $29.99 USD ($17.64 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Zinc Oxide SPF 50 — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
This is a mineral fluid option without choosing a tint shade.
What We Like
A clearly disclosed two-mineral active system.
Considerations
A white cast remains possible. The shorter 40-minute water interval matters during exercise.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing untinted mineral facial fluid.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating.
8. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Tinted SPF 50 — Tinted shade
Best for: A specific tinted mineral option
Product type: Mineral sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Titanium dioxide 11%; iron oxides in the tint
Size: 50 mL
Fragrance: Fragrance-free
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; mineral filters. Water resistance: 40 minutes.
Approx. price: $39.99 USD ($8.00 / 10 mL).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mineral Tinted SPF 50 — Tinted shade — manufacturer information.
Additional label source: US Drug Facts.
Why It Stands Out
The tint adds a cosmetic shade choice to a titanium-dioxide sunscreen.
What We Like
The manufacturer separates active ingredients by shade.
Considerations
This entry is the original Tinted SPF 50. Medium, Medium Deep and Deep use different actives; do not transfer these specifications to those versions. A tint is not a universal skin-tone match.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing a specific tinted mineral option.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating.
9. Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion
Best for: Large scented body lotion
Product type: Chemical sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 10%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%
Size: 6 US fl oz
Fragrance: Contains fragrance
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; chemical filters. Water resistance: 80 minutes.
Approx. price: $16.49 USD ($2.75 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
The six-fluid-ounce bottle has a lower cost per ounce than small facial options.
What We Like
A clear face-versus-body price comparison, plus 80-minute water resistance.
Considerations
Skip this if added scent is unwelcome. Original Face SPF 50 has a different water-resistance interval.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing large scented body lotion.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.
10. Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Lotion
Best for: Fragrance-free face-lotion value
Product type: Chemical sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 10%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%
Size: 3 US fl oz
Fragrance: Fragrance-free
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; chemical filters. Water resistance: 40 minutes.
Approx. price: $15.49 USD ($5.16 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Lotion — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
This face version removes the added-fragrance preference required by the original body lotion.
What We Like
Three fluid ounces is generous relative to many facial tubes.
Considerations
Its 40-minute water resistance is shorter than the Original body lotion. Similar names do not make the labels interchangeable.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing fragrance-free face-lotion value.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating.
11. Badger Sport Mineral Sunscreen Cream SPF 40
Best for: Short ingredient-list preference
Product type: Mineral sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Zinc oxide 22.5%, sunflower oil, beeswax, vitamin E
Size: 2.9 US fl oz
Fragrance: Unscented
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 40; mineral filters. Water resistance: 80 minutes.
Approx. price: $18.99 USD ($6.55 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Badger Sport Mineral Sunscreen Cream SPF 40 — manufacturer information.
Why It Stands Out
Four listed ingredients make the formula relatively easy to review against personal exclusions.
What We Like
Waterless cream with a clearly stated 80-minute water-resistance interval.
Considerations
Contains beeswax, so it is not vegan. Expect a cream rather than a watery facial fluid; whitening is possible.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing short ingredient-list preference.
How to Use
Apply liberally to exposed skin and rub in, following the label. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every two hours.
12. Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 50
Best for: Gel sunscreen under makeup
Product type: Chemical sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 7%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 9%
Size: 74 mL
Fragrance: Scentless; no parfum listed
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; chemical filters. Water resistance: 40 minutes.
Approx. price: $48.00 USD ($6.49 / 10 mL).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 50 — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
The silicone-rich gel is positioned to double as a makeup primer.
What We Like
A non-lotion format for shoppers who dislike conventional cream textures.
Considerations
This is SPF 50, not the older SPF 40 or Mineral Unseen. Price refers to the 74 mL value size. Cosmetic finish still varies by wearer.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing gel sunscreen under makeup.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating.
13. Supergoop! PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50
Best for: Premium face-and-body lotion
Product type: Chemical sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 10%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 7.5%
Size: 2.4 US fl oz
Fragrance: Naturally scented; not fragrance-free
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; chemical filters. Water resistance: 80 minutes.
Approx. price: $18.00 USD ($7.50 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Supergoop! PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
The lotion comes in multiple sizes, making a small first purchase possible before committing to a pump.
What We Like
Face-and-body labeling and 80-minute water resistance.
Considerations
Synthetic-fragrance-free does not mean unscented: the original includes a natural scent. Do not confuse it with PLAY Everyday Face Lotion Fragrance-Free.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing premium face-and-body lotion.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.
14. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 70
Best for: Higher labeled SPF on a budget
Product type: Chemical sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 15%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%
Size: 3 US fl oz
Fragrance: Contains fragrance
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 70; chemical filters. Water resistance: 80 minutes.
Approx. price: $9.89 USD ($3.30 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 70 — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Additional label source: US Drug Facts.
Why It Stands Out
This offers a higher labeled SPF without a premium facial-sunscreen price.
What We Like
An inexpensive face-and-body tube with 80-minute water resistance.
Considerations
SPF 70 does not mean 70 minutes of protection or allow less frequent reapplication. The formula contains fragrance.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing higher labeled spf on a budget.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours, immediately after towel drying, and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating.
15. Eucerin Clear Skin SPF 50 Face Sunscreen
Best for: Oily-skin daily face option
Product type: Chemical sunscreen
Key ingredients/features: Avobenzone 3%, homosalate 10%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%; oil-absorbing minerals
Size: 2.5 US fl oz
Fragrance: Fragrance-free
US protection label: Broad spectrum SPF 50; chemical filters. Water resistance: Not specified.
Approx. price: $15.99 USD ($6.40 / US fl oz).
Price checked: September 27, 2026.
Official product source: Eucerin Clear Skin SPF 50 Face Sunscreen — manufacturer information.
Selected retailer / price source: View the specified size and current availability.
Why It Stands Out
The brand identifies this as the renamed Oil Control formula, helping shoppers recognize older packaging.
What We Like
A daily facial formula with an explicit fragrance-free claim.
Considerations
No water-resistance interval is claimed here: choose a labeled water-resistant option for swimming. Its name does not make it an acne treatment.
Who It May Suit
A shopper prioritizing oily-skin daily face option.
How to Use
Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every two hours. Choose a labeled water-resistant sunscreen for swimming or sweating.
How to Choose Sunscreen for Your Actual Day
Start with the protection label
The AAD recommends broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and water resistance. Broad spectrum addresses UVA and UVB; SPF does not describe a number of minutes you can safely stay outdoors. All 15 entries here have broad-spectrum labeling, but the water-resistance information differs. A higher SPF does not remove the need for adequate application or regular reapplication.
This comparison uses US products. The same brand name may identify a different formula overseas, and shade variants can have different active ingredients or SPF. Read the Drug Facts on the bottle you receive instead of assuming an international recommendation applies to your US purchase.
Water resistance is a timed claim
The FDA explains that water-resistance claims are for 40 or 80 minutes; sunscreen is not waterproof. Match the label to swimming or sweating and reapply after towel drying. A 40-minute facial formula is a different choice from an 80-minute body lotion for an active afternoon.
Two particularly easy mix-ups appear in this list: Sun Bum Original Face SPF 50 is labeled for 40 minutes, while Original Body Lotion SPF 50 is labeled for 80. Supergoop! Unseen SPF 50 is labeled for 40 minutes, while PLAY Everyday Lotion is labeled for 80. Similar packaging, the same SPF number, or a shared brand does not make those intervals interchangeable.
For Eucerin Clear Skin and Make It Hybrid, we do not assign an unverified product-specific interval. Choose a sunscreen whose own label clearly states water resistance for swimming or sweating. An absent number in this guide means you should check the pack, not assume unlimited protection.
Mineral, chemical, and hybrid are formula categories
Mineral entries use zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide as labeled active filters. Chemical entries here use combinations such as avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene. The hybrid entry combines zinc oxide with chemical filters. These categories describe the active system; they are not a ranking from “safe” to “unsafe.”
Choose with texture, fragrance, appearance, and the actual protection label in mind. We have not performed white-cast or eye-sting tests. A manufacturer’s “invisible” description should not be treated as a guarantee across every skin tone, amount applied, or combination of makeup and moisturizer.
Be exact about tinted variants
The La Roche-Posay entry is the original Tinted SPF 50 with titanium dioxide 11%. The brand’s Medium, Medium Deep, and Deep options have different active lists. That is why we identify the selected shade in the product name instead of listing the entire shade range as one identical SPF 50 formula.
Shade preference is personal, and one tint is not universal. If a tint looks wrong at the amount needed for protection, using less is not a good way to correct the cosmetic match. Consider another shade or product with a verified label and a finish you will comfortably reapply.
Separate face budget from body budget
A facial gel may be worth considering for makeup compatibility, but small tubes become expensive when used over larger areas. For body coverage, compare the selected five- and six-fluid-ounce lotions with the 1.7-fluid-ounce facial fluid. Our unit prices make that tradeoff clearer than comparing checkout prices alone.
The lowest listed price per fluid ounce among the selected body bottles is not a promise of the best feel or strongest real-world protection. It is simply a cost calculation. A product that you dislike enough to use sparingly is a poor match even when its unit cost looks attractive.
Make room for other sun-protection measures
The FDA advises shade and protective clothing alongside sunscreen because no product completely blocks UV radiation. Reapply at least every two hours and follow the water and towel-drying directions on your label. Ask a health professional about sunscreen use for infants younger than six months.
Plan where the bottle will be when it is time to reapply. Keeping it buried in a suitcase is less useful than carrying a suitable pack in your day bag. Check the expiration and storage instructions, and avoid relying on a barely used old bottle simply because it has a high SPF number.
Check scent as carefully as finish
Original Sun Bum Body Lotion contains fragrance. Supergoop! PLAY Everyday Lotion is naturally scented even though the brand describes it as synthetic-fragrance-free. Make It Hybrid contains lavender oil. Those distinctions matter for someone actively avoiding scent; “natural” is not the same as fragrance-free.
How DayZora Selected These Products
DayZora compared US manufacturer pages, ingredient descriptions and directions, supplementing them with the linked major-retailer listings for specific sizes and prices. For sunscreen, we also checked available US protection labels and water-resistance intervals. Selection balances product role, ingredient transparency, fragrance, packaging information where disclosed, and purchase cost. The table adds unit-price calculations so different pack sizes can be compared more fairly.
These 15 choices are a considered selection, not an exhaustive test of the market. We did not measure hydration, brightening, UV protection, wear, hair strength or consumer satisfaction, and we assigned no performance scores. A “best for” label describes why a product belongs in this comparison. It does not guarantee suitability for every reader. Unclear details remain explicitly unspecified. Review the current ingredient list, exact variant, seller and availability before ordering; reformulations and prices can change.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does broad spectrum mean?
The FDA uses broad-spectrum labeling for products that meet its UVA and UVB protection requirements. SPF and broad spectrum answer related but different questions; read both on the label.
Is an 80-minute sunscreen waterproof?
No. Eighty minutes is a water-resistance interval, not unlimited protection. Follow the label after swimming, sweating, and towel drying, and reapply at least every two hours.
Can body sunscreen be used on the face?
Several products here are explicitly labeled for both face and body. Check the exact product’s directions, avoid the eyes, and consider whether its texture and fragrance suit your preferences.
Does a higher SPF mean I can apply less?
No. Choose a product you can afford to use in the labeled amount. Reducing quantity to stretch an expensive tube defeats the purpose of comparing its protection label.
Will mineral sunscreen leave a white cast?
It may. DayZora has not wear-tested these products, and appearance can vary with skin tone, amount, and formula. A manufacturer’s invisible-finish claim is not our independent finding.
Are these guaranteed 2027 prices?
No. Prices were checked September 27, 2026 for this early 2027 guide. Confirm the size, seller, and checkout total before ordering.
